Sometimes it's not convenient to have to bring a noise logger back to your office whenever you want to collect the data. Say you need to monitor noise levels at a location hundreds of kilometres from your office over a 12 month period. You could take a portable computer with you but you still have to drive to the location to get the data.

Modem Communication: A better solution is to attach a modem to the EL-315. You can then download data from your office via the telephone line in only a few minutes. Connect a solar panel to keep the battery charged and you have a maintenance-free, long-term, statistical noise logging system.
